Learn to quickly, confidently and safely place an IV in the community setting!

Not only establish and maintain an IV but understand when it's important to use IV fluids, which IV fluids are best for various purposes, how to manage minor complications, review typical medications that can be administered intravenously, a full review of PPH medications along with the management of hypovolemic shock.

By the end of this online and hands-on course, you will feel confident inserting an IV catheter, decide which equipment you like best and how to administer IV fluids & IV medications. You will also gain an good understanding of the different medications, and know when to use each of them.

In this workshop, we will dive into all things Intravenous Access!

I put this workshop together because I have heard over and over again, that midwives (and definitely student midwives) need more practice in this area. So let's practice! I believe that all too often, our own hesitancy & lack of confidence prevents us from taking the actions we need to take, including placing an Intravenous Catheter!

My goal is for you to gain a greater understanding about IV's / fluids / medications / PPH / shock and get lots of practice in too! - the next time you think someone could benefit from an IV, whether it is for administering antibiotics for GBS prophylaxis, treating a stalled or prolonged labor due to dehydration or to help stabilize someone after a hemorrhage and prevent them from going into hypovolemic shock - that you just do it because you KNOW you can!
